Reality Check

Here's a scenario: You go out to eat dinner with your wife/husband/whatever and your waitress does a terrible job. She screws up your order, she doesn't refill your drink, and she chomps her gum while tapping her acrylic fingernails on the table as she waits for you to order. Are you going to give her a generous tip? Hopefully not. Why? Because she didn't do a good job.

The next night you two go out to dinner again at a different restaurant. This time your waitress is great. She helps you out with the menu, always comes to check on you and your food, and is very personable. Are you going to give her a good tip? Of course! Why? Because she did a good job.

The reality with our liberal-led society is that you are not tipping fairly. The first waitress that did the crappy job should have been given a better tip. Why? Since she performs poorly at her job, she's not going to make much money and therefore you need to account for that so she is able to make enough money to survive. The second waitress that did a great job was tipped too much. Why? Since she performs her job well, she isn't going to have any problem making money and doesn't need a big tip from you. She should be tipped less to compensate for the first waitress' lack of tips.

What is happening here? Success is being punished and misfortune and laziness is being rewarded. Don't be so naive to disbelieve this. Capitalism has become an old-fashioned idea and the government and special interest groups are doing their best to phase it out and phase in their redistributing of wealth. And remember how Obama promised to lift up the middle class and not allow them to get left behind? Well the middle class is still going to be in the same position as its always been because all the money that is being robbed from the rich is going to the mostly undeserving poor (which includes illegal aliens, I mean "undocumented workers").

How does this new health reform fit into all of this? Just read what Senator Max Baucus had to say about it:

"Too often, much of late, the last couple three years, the mal-distribution of income in American is gone up way too much, the wealthy are getting way, way too wealthy and the middle income class is left behind," he said. "Wages have not kept up with increased income of the highest income in America. This legislation will have the effect of addressing that mal-distribution of income in America."

And then Howard Dean said this:

"When wealth distribution gets out of whack as it did in the ’20s and it has now, you need to do some redistribution. This health reform is a form of redistribution.”

The health reform is not about providing better health care for people or providing coverage for those who can't afford it. It's simply the government playing the part of Robin Hood - robbing the rich and giving to the poor. The people who support health reform believe that everyone is ENTITLED to health insurance. That is absolutely false! They're as entitled to health insurance as I'm entitled to buy a house I can't afford and walk away from the mortgage and leave it to the bank who loaned it to me (oh, wait...). This feeling of entitlement is destroying the fabric that holds our country together.

I'm in the middle of starting a business, a for-profit business. Remember those? You provide a product or service that customers are willing to pay for and then you begin to make a profit, expand, provide jobs for people, feed the economy. And if your business is successful, you get rewarded as the owner. That idea seems to be lost now. Instead, the government dictates how much you should make, who you should sell to and at what price, and if your product is environmentally friendly (and if it's not then you have to spend millions of dollars to lower the quality of the product so it complies with the upcoming cap and trade bill). That sounds way better than the capitalistic America that used to be, doesn't it?

The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe said...

Hey Brad.
I am one of the owners of The Cocoa Bean and got your msg on our blog. I do apologize that when you have came into our Provo store we have not been able to offer all 8 of the different flavors that were originally made that day. Unfortunately there is no way for us to know how many of each flavor to make to insure that we will have all of them by the end of the day. We don't re-sale our cupcakes the next day-so our ultimate goal is to sell as many as possible without any waist. One way to make sure you get the cupcake you want when you come in would be to call ahead. We have tons of people that call and have us set aside cupcakes for them for later that day/night. Sorry if this upsets you-we do try our best to make customers happy :) Thanks!! Gloria
P.S. I love your blog.
